|
Podcasting describes a method of distributing content (often audio or video) from a server to another machine over the Internet through the use of software. Content, or sermons, downloaded via podcasting are stored on your machine in their native format (in this case .mp3 files) where you told your software to place them. This technology provides a very easy means of automatically downloading content when it come available. The majority of podcasting tools can run in the background on your computer and synchronize new sermons. The term "podcasting" was created in 2004 by combining two different words "iPod" and "Broadcasting". If you would like a more details description of this technology, please go to the Wikipedia by clicking here. Do I need an iPod to use Podcasting? No. Although the technology integrates very well with an Apple iPod, there is no need for you to own an iPod to take advantage of this technology. Any device that will play a .MP3 file will allow you to use podcasting. If you want to just download sermons and listen to them on your computer, or if you have an MP3 player, Podcasting is for you.ÂWhat software do I need for Podcasting? There are many different software tools, called "aggregators", available for the different computer operating systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc.). Although there are different tools, two are often used by the majority of users. These tools are "Juice" and "iTunes". Both of these (or any other podcast aggregator, can be used to get Bethlehem Bible Church's audio sermons. You can click on the two icons below to download the software.
